CLUB OVERVIEW
West Des Moines Soccer Club is a nonprofit organization that has been established since 1986.  It is one of the largest and most successful soccer clubs in the Midwest, offering playing opportunities and instruction for approximately 2,000 children, youth from ages 4 through high school as well as opportunities for adults to play or get involved as coaches, referees or volunteers.  The club consists of 3 main programs - Development, Recreational, and Academy ages 9 & 10. These programs are part of our Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model.  We recognize that a long-term commitment and a systematic approach to training, competition, and programming will help to ensure optimum development and enjoyment for each and every player within WDMSC.
WDMSC is affiliated with Iowa State Soccer Association (ISA), the US Youth Soccer and the United States Soccer Federation.

MISSION STATEMENT
West Des Moines Soccer Club is a non-profit organization formed to promote, foster, and advance the cause of soccer for youth and adults alike.  It shall be the mission of West Des Moines Soccer Club to educate, provide administrative service, promote and stimulate interest in the game of soccer.  Offering quality soccer programs for youth since 1986.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
WDMSC believes that the pursuit of excellence in the areas of academics and soccer helps develop maturity and self-confidence. We believe that the experiences a player has with WDMSC will be beneficial throughout their lifetime. The focus of WDMSC is the development of the individual player. Our goal is to maximize the development of the individual through programming that challenges each player, a coaching staff that adheres to high standards, and first class facilities. WDMSC is resolute in dedicating its time and resources to the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of playing soccer.

Program Philosophy
  • To foster a love for the game and keep players active.
  • To develop physical literacy and basic skills within children, through soccer participation.
  • The physical curriculum emphasizes the ABC's of movement: agility, balance, co-ordination and speed, as well as running, jumping, twisting, kicking, throwing and catching because without fundamental movement skills (speed, agility, balance, and co-ordination, as well as the ability to run, jump, throw, kick, catch, and control of the body (sensory awareness), children will not reach their full genetic potential, or have confidence or competence to take part in many sporting activities.
  • These skills will be developed through FUN (Foundation, Understanding, and Nurturing) activity-based, with 100% involvement at all times

We develop the PERSON, and then the PLAYER. We act with RESPECT, HUMILITY, and INTEGRITY at all times. We are a TEAM that requires the BEST FOR, and BEST FROM one another. We demonstrate a RELENTLESS DRIVE TO MAXIMIZE OUR POTENTIAL. We are UNCOMPROMISING in our pursuit of EXCELLENT. We are more than a soccer club; WE ARE A FAMILY.
