WDMSC Financial Aid
The purpose of financial aid is to assist players with funding to play soccer with West Des Moines Soccer Club. Financial aid is typically limited to club fees and WDMSC registration fees. Financial Aid funds come in large part from our WDMSC sponsors, donors, and Premier Games tournament
WDMSC SCHOLARSHIP POLICY
Purpose
West Des Moines Soccer Club is pleased to offer a scholarship program to help families offset club fees. The club has a limited number of scholarships available and the number of players receiving aid and the amount of the scholarship will vary depending on the funds available. Scholarships are funded by contributions, camp and tournament proceeds.
This scholarship program provides assistance to players of low income families or families who have experienced sudden financial hardships. The amount of the award depends on need including but not limited to the following:
family income, number of family members and number of players requesting financial aid. The scholarship committee will consider all complete applications received by the application deadline. The amount of the scholarship awarded (if any) may be up to 100% of West Des Moines Soccer Club fees depending on the number applicants and amount of scholarship funds available. West Des Moines Soccer Club is a non-profit organization with a limited amount of funding
available for scholarship athletes. No guarantee of assistance is implied in this application.

Policy
WDMSC Board shall determine, each year, the total dollars to budget for financial scholarships (if any). Scholarships in excess of this amount shall not be awarded. Scholarships are available to both recreational team and competitive team players, but may only be awarded for team registration costs. Scholarships are not available for equipment including uniforms, tournament fees, travel costs, special camps, academies, or other training programs, whether offered through
WDMSC or another organization. Scholarships applicants shall be asked to provide information describing the reason for their request. These additional costs for tournaments, State Cup, travel expenses, uniforms, and other expenses in excess of the team registration costs, shall be the scholarship recipient’s sole responsibility. All scholarship applications shall be kept confidential. The Club Treasurer, Secretary and Registrar (scholarship committee) will make scholarship decisions and only WDMSC Board officers shall be provided information on scholarship awards.
Scholarship awards generally shall not exceed 50% of the team registration costs. A scholarship award in one year is, in no way, a guarantee of a scholarship award in a future year. The availability of scholarships and the size of the
awards (if any) may vary from year to year. Each scholarship recipient is expected to complete volunteer hours for
WDMSC in consideration of the scholarship received. These volunteer hours may be field setup and breakdown, or other jobs as determined by the Scholarship Committee or other PSC Board officer designated by the WDMSC President. Any scholarship recipient who does not complete the requested volunteer hours shall be ineligible to receive a scholarship in future years. Any and all exceptions to the above policies may be made only with the approval of the WDMSC Board. WDMSC reserves the right to modify the above policies from time to time or to eliminate them at any time at its discretion.

Requirements
- The scholarship application form MUST be completely filled out.
- Scholarship requests must be received by the West Des Moines Soccer Club on or before deadline.
- Provide a basis of financial need due to low/no income, excessive medical expenses, family hardships, etc.
- Provide a recent paycheck stub.
- Special circumstances, such as large medical expenses not covered by insurance, loss of income due to illness or unemployment, etc. are also taken into consideration. Be sure that you include an explanation of this type of hardship in your request if you believe that you have extraordinary circumstances that should be considered.
- You MUST provide copies of your latest Federal income tax return as proof of income and family size.
- The Club Treasurer, Secretary and Registrar (scholarship committee) will be informed of the amount of scholarship aid a player receives. Otherwise, your privacy will be carefully protected.
- The scholarship covers registration fees only. You are responsible for paying an remaining registration, tournament fees and any team expenses such as travel, coaches’ expenses and tournament expenses as well as uniform expenses. These items are not covered by this scholarship.
- Complete an application during the online registration process.
Awarded Scholarships
- Commitment to attend scheduled practices and games.
- Participation by a parent/guardian/player must fulfill their required work slots in the club’s tournaments that the club hosts.
- Voluntary service depending on amount of scholarship received to West Des Moines Soccer Club during the season. Volunteer work will be under the direction of the scholarship committee and may consist of field maintenance or assistance with fundraising activities
